“Air Compressor Safety”
Key Hazards
- Hose whip from failed fittings
- Injuries from compressed air misuse
- Equipment failure from over-pressurization
2–3 Minute Talk Script
Air compressor safety is critical due to the stored energy contained in compressed air systems. Hose failures or improper use can cause serious injuries.
Hoses, fittings, and connections should be inspected before use. Damaged or improperly secured hoses can whip violently if pressure is suddenly released.
Compressed air should never be used to clean clothing or skin. Even low pressure can force air or debris into the body and cause severe injury.
Pressure settings should match tool requirements. Over-pressurization increases wear and the risk of equipment failure.
Safety Reminders
- Inspect hoses and fittings before use.
- Never use compressed air on skin or clothing.
- Use proper pressure settings.
- Secure hoses to prevent whip hazards.
Ask the Crew
- Are hoses and fittings in good condition?
- Are pressure settings appropriate for the tools in use?
