2–3 Minute Talk Script

A drone operation is not complete when the aircraft lands. Postflight inspection helps identify damage, overheating, contamination, and performance problems before they affect the next mission.

The aircraft should be powered down and handled carefully after flight. Motors, batteries, and electronic components may be hot, especially after long flights, high winds, heavy payloads, or warm weather.

Propellers, arms, landing gear, camera mounts, sensors, and the airframe should be checked for cracks, looseness, deformation, or impact marks. Even a normal-looking landing can damage a component if the aircraft contacted gravel, vegetation, or debris.

Motors should be checked for unusual heat, resistance, noise, vibration, or debris. Dirt, grass, fibers, and other material should be removed only by approved methods.

Batteries should be examined for swelling, dents, punctures, damaged contacts, unusual temperature, or abnormal power use. Suspect batteries should be isolated rather than placed back into the normal charging and storage system.

Moisture, dust, mud, chemicals, salt, and other contamination should be addressed according to manufacturer instructions. Improper cleaning can damage sensors, coatings, motors, or electrical components.

Flight time, battery use, warnings, hard landings, repairs, and unusual behavior should be recorded. Maintenance records help crews identify repeated problems and retire components before failure.

Any unresolved discrepancy should remove the aircraft or component from service until a qualified person completes the required inspection or repair.
