“Pressure Washer Safety”
Key Hazards
- Injection injuries from high-pressure spray
- Loss of footing on wet surfaces
- Damage caused by improper nozzle use
2–3 Minute Talk Script
Pressure washer safety is essential for facility maintenance teams, fleet washers, landscapers, and construction cleanup crews. High-pressure spray can penetrate skin or damage equipment if not controlled carefully.
Workers should use correct nozzles, maintain a stable stance, and avoid placing hands or feet near the spray path. Wet surfaces can become slippery, so proper footwear and situational awareness are critical.
Different industries use pressure washers differently—removing graffiti, cleaning vehicles, preparing surfaces, or flushing equipment. Each task requires adjusting pressure and nozzle type.
Workers should never point the wand at others and should shut down equipment before adjusting fittings.
Safety Reminders
- Use the correct nozzle.
- Stand firmly and avoid slippery surfaces.
- Keep hands away from the spray.
- Shut off before adjusting equipment.
Ask the Crew
- Do we have proper nozzles for today’s job?
- Are there slippery areas we need to address before washing?
