2–3 Minute Talk Script
Commercial hand mixers can create injuries when rotating attachments, cords, liquids, and containers are not controlled. The tool may be handheld, but it still has powered moving parts.
Workers should inspect the mixer before use. Cords, plugs, switches, handles, guards, attachments, locking points, and the housing should be in good condition.
Attachments should be installed securely before the mixer is powered. Loose or incorrect attachments can wobble, detach, or damage the container.
Hands, utensils, clothing, hair, and jewelry should be kept away from rotating beaters, paddles, or blades while the mixer is plugged in or operating.
The mixer should be unplugged or otherwise de-energized before changing attachments, clearing material, cleaning, or reaching near moving parts.
Electrical safety matters because mixers are often used near sinks, liquids, wet counters, or washdown areas. Damaged cords or plugs should not be used.
Containers should be stable and sized for the material being mixed. Overfilled or unstable containers can splash, tip, or pull the mixer off balance.
Safe commercial hand mixer use depends on inspection, attachment control, keeping hands away from moving parts, unplugging before cleaning, and controlling splash and electrical hazards.
Safety Reminders

Ask the Crew
- Is the mixer and cord in safe condition?
- Are attachments secure and correct for the task?
- Could hands or clothing contact moving parts?
- Has the mixer been unplugged before cleaning or adjustment?
- Could splash, heat, or liquid exposure create a hazard?
