2–3 Minute Talk Script
Scaffold Erection and Dismantling Safety requires workers to recognize the task-specific hazards before work begins and to use the controls established for the project.
Erection and dismantling should follow the scaffold manufacturer's requirements and the direction of a competent person who evaluates access, fall protection, stability, sequence, and site conditions.
The supporting surface, base plates, mud sills, casters, frames, posts, and first level should be established level, plumb, square, and stable before height is added.
Braces, pins, couplers, ties, guys, outriggers, platforms, and access components should be installed in the planned sequence so the scaffold remains stable throughout the work.
Workers should use the fall-protection and safe-access methods selected by the competent person for the specific scaffold and erection stage.
A controlled area should keep others away from falling components, and materials should be raised, lowered, and handed off without throwing or overreaching.
Dismantling should proceed in the reverse planned sequence without removing ties, braces, or support components before the upper structure and loads they protect are removed.
Work should stop when the scaffold shifts, wind or weather becomes unsafe, electrical clearance is threatened, components do not fit correctly, or the planned sequence cannot be followed.
