Wall Framing and Temporary Bracing Safety requires workers to recognize the task-specific hazards before work begins and to use the controls established for the project.
The framing crew should plan wall size, weight, lifting method, worker positions, bracing locations, anchor points, access, weather limits, and the sequence for permanent connection.
Wall sections should be built on a stable surface with openings, headers, fasteners, and dimensions verified before lifting.
Large or heavy walls should be raised with mechanical assistance or enough workers to maintain control without overexertion or workers entering crush zones.
Workers should use agreed commands and stay clear of the wall's fall path, base pinch points, and areas where braces or tools may move suddenly.
Temporary braces should be installed promptly, anchored to suitable points, and arranged to resist wind and construction loads until permanent framing provides stability.
Fall protection, safe ladders or platforms, and guarded floor openings should be used during top-plate, alignment, fastening, and connection work.
Work should stop when wind increases, a brace loosens, the lifting crew loses coordination, the wall begins to shift, or the structure cannot be secured immediately after raising.
