2–3 Minute Talk Script

Working near moving equipment is a major source of injuries in construction, warehouses, utilities, and industrial sites. Forklifts, skid steers, excavators, and trucks create hazards for nearby workers who may enter blind spots without realizing it.

Workers should maintain eye contact with operators before entering equipment paths. High-visibility clothing helps ensure workers remain visible in low lighting or dusty environments. Operators must use horns, mirrors, and cameras effectively.

Different industries have different challenges. Construction workers deal with heavy equipment on uneven ground. Warehouse workers navigate forklifts in tight aisles. Utility crews operate bucket trucks and diggers in roadways.

Open communication is essential. Workers should never assume operators can see them. Spotters may be required in congested areas. Slowing down and signaling intentions prevents many equipment-related incidents.

Safety Reminders

  • Maintain eye contact with operators.
  • Wear high-visibility PPE.
  • Avoid entering blind spots.
  • Use spotters in congested areas.

Ask the Crew

  • What moving equipment will operate in our area today?
  • Do we need spotters to manage traffic flow?
