“Warehouse Rack Safety”
Key Hazards
- Racks collapsing from impacts
- Falling products from high shelves
- Unstable pallets
2–3 Minute Talk Script
Warehouse rack safety is important for warehouse workers, forklift operators, and material handlers. Racking systems hold thousands of pounds of product, meaning small issues can lead to major incidents.
Workers should inspect racks for bent uprights, missing bolts, or loose beam connections. Even minor forklift bumps can weaken racks.
Pallets must be stacked squarely to prevent items from falling. Heavy items should be placed on lower levels to maintain stability.
Workers should communicate around racks, especially when forklifts are active. Pedestrians should never walk under raised forks or reach into racks while equipment is in motion.
Safety Reminders
- Inspect racking for damage.
- Keep heavy items low.
- Communicate around forklift activity.
- Never climb racks.
Ask the Crew
- Are any racks showing signs of damage?
- Do we need to reorganize heavy items?
