Precast and Tilt-Up Concrete Safety requires workers to recognize the task-specific hazards before work begins and to use the controls established for the project.

The erection plan should define panel weights, lift points, rigging, crane capacity, sequence, brace design, anchor locations, worker positions, wind limits, and permanent connection requirements.

Lifting inserts, anchors, braces, rigging, hardware, and concrete condition should be inspected and verified for the intended loads before lifting begins.

The area beneath and around suspended panels should be restricted, with workers kept out of panel fall paths, pinch points, and locations between the load and fixed structures.

Tag lines and clear signals should control panel rotation and placement without workers pushing or pulling from unsafe positions.

Temporary braces should be installed, adjusted, and anchored as designed before the crane releases the panel, and they should remain until permanent connections provide verified stability.

Wind, ground conditions, crane setup, access, and nearby work should be monitored because changing conditions can affect a large panel rapidly.

Erection should stop when wind exceeds the plan, inserts or braces are damaged, anchors are uncertain, communication is lost, or the panel cannot be placed without workers entering a crush zone.
