Concrete Pump and Delivery Hose Safety requires workers to recognize the task-specific hazards before work begins and to use the controls established for the project.

The pumping plan should address pump location, ground capacity, outriggers, overhead lines, boom path, hose routing, pour sequence, communication, washout, and safe access for the placing crew.

The pump should be set on stable ground with outriggers fully supported and clear of excavations, voids, soft shoulders, utilities, and traffic as required by the manufacturer.

The boom and delivery system should maintain required clearance from electrical lines, with a designated spotter and controlled setup when line contact is possible.

Pipes, clamps, gaskets, couplings, reducers, hoses, and safety restraints should be inspected and properly connected before pressurizing the system.

Workers should stand clear of hose ends and bends during startup, priming, pressure changes, and blockage clearing because trapped air and material can cause violent movement.

Pump operators and placing crews should use clear signals, maintain stable footing, control splash exposure, and stop discharge before repositioning or disconnecting components.

Pumping should stop when outriggers settle, electrical clearance is threatened, the hose moves unpredictably, pressure behaves abnormally, a coupling leaks, or communication is lost.
