- Leaking, damaged, or unlabeled containers
- Cabinet doors left open or blocked
- Ignition sources near flammable storage areas
- Spills, vapors, or poor housekeeping inside cabinets
2–3 Minute Talk Script
Flammables storage cabinets are designed to help control fire risk, but they only work when used correctly and kept organized.
Only compatible flammable materials should be stored in the cabinet. Incompatible chemicals should be separated according to labels, SDS information, and site procedures.
Containers should be closed, labeled, and in good condition. Leaking cans, damaged lids, missing labels, or residue on containers should be reported.
Cabinet doors should remain closed when materials are not being added or removed. Open doors reduce the protection the cabinet is intended to provide.
Flammable storage areas should be kept away from ignition sources. Smoking, welding, grinding, heaters, electrical sparks, and hot work should be controlled nearby.
The cabinet should not be overloaded or used for unrelated storage. Rags, trash, tools, PPE, cardboard, or incompatible materials can create hazards.
Spills or residue inside the cabinet should be cleaned up according to procedure. Vapors and contaminated materials should not be ignored.
Safe use of flammables storage cabinets depends on labeling, compatibility, closed containers, good housekeeping, and keeping ignition sources away.
