Masonry Saw Safety requires workers to recognize the task-specific hazards before work begins and to use the controls established for the project.

The operator should confirm the material, blade type, saw speed, guard position, dust-control method, power source, work support, and safe cutting location before use.

The saw, blade, arbor, guard, table, controls, water system, cords, plugs, and grounding or ground-fault protection should be inspected before cutting.

The correct serviceable blade should be installed and allowed to reach operating speed without workers standing in line with the blade.

Water delivery or another approved silica-control method should be used as required, with flow maintained at the point of cutting and slurry managed safely.

Material should be supported and guided without hands entering the blade path, forcing the cut, twisting the work, or reaching across the rotating blade.

Eye, face, hearing, respiratory, and foot protection should match the dust, fragment, noise, and material-handling hazards of the task.

Cutting should stop when the blade binds, cracks, wobbles, loses water, produces uncontrolled dust, or the workpiece cannot be supported without approaching the blade.
